Internationalisation of higher education and research



Abstract
On behalf of the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung INCHER-Kassel conducted a study on internationalization in higher education and research. This expertise by Alesi and Kehm contributed to the major project "university policy alternatives" by the Hans-Böckler-Foundation.A focus was laid on the tensions between the Bologna Process and the Lisbon Declaration. In addition, important changes in the Bologna concept were analyzed, in particular the participation of new groups of actors and an increasing involvement by external stakeholders into curricular aspects of higher education. Furthermore German politics and German reform initiatives have been classified into the European and international Trends and finally, implications of the growing influence of international organizations into the higher education sector were discussed and recommendations for alternative strategies provided.
